I am a Toronto-based freelance writer. I write a regular beer column for Post City Magazines that appears both online and in print. As well, I write the eastern Canadian craft beer column for Food Bloggers of Canada every month. My work has appeared in publications including Where Toronto, Taste & Travel Magazine, Craftbeer.ca, TorontoLife.com, Eater Toronto, and Eat Drink Travel Magazine.
Generally, my writing focuses on food, drink, and travel. Editors, if you have a story that you would like me to cover, please send me an email at david@foodwithlegs.com.
My Book
In October 2013, my first book, The Canadian Craft Beer Cookbook was published by Whitecap Books. It’s a collection of my original recipes that either use craft beer as an ingredient or make food that matches harmoniously with full-flavoured beer. For more information about the book, including where to find it and media coverage it has received, please head over to beercookbook.ca.
Advertising
During the first or second year of running Food With Legs it really seemed like just about everyone had their own food blog. Banner advertising felt like an all-right way to announce that I was serious about the endeavour and also to recoup some of the costs of publishing. Neither of those objectives are as much of a priority for this site so, at least for now, this space will be free of advertising.
Amazon associate links are the one exception to this rule. If you click on a link from my site to a product on Amazon and buy something within 24 hours I’ll get paid a small commission. Usually between 4 and 6% of whatever you spend. Any other affiliate links will be clearly marked.
PR Pitches
Have a beer, new restaurant, or other story idea for me? Feel free to get in touch. There’s more information about how to reach me on the contact page. I can’t guarantee that I will write about the product your present, but I will give it a fair hearing and let you know why if I choose not to cover it.
Soliciting, Guests Posts
For whatever reason those hawking SEO optimization and “cutting edge knowledge” for free in the form of the guest post seem to be better than others at getting past spam filters these days. I’m pretty sure none of you actually read pages like this before sending your quickly-ignored pitches, but just in case: please stop. I’m all good as far as search result rankings go and unless we’ve met in person I’m probably not going to turn the reins of my site over to you.
