What: An evening of food stations paired with craft beer and hosted by the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse foundation. Jordan St. John and I will talk briefly about the basics of cooking with craft beer and also the historical connection between Enoch Turner and brewing in Toronto.

I’m happy to be doing this event both because of my interest in local Toronto history and also since I think it represents craft beer moving outside of beer nerd circles. It will also be a great pleasure to share the stage with Jordan St. John and hopefully get a first look at his upcoming book Lost Breweries of Toronto. I will update this post with more details, including the recipes from The Canadian Craft Beer Cookbook that will be available for sampling, as we get closer to the day of.
Here is the promised update with more information on the food and drink that is planned for the event. All five of the food samples will be based on recipes from The Canadian Craft Beer Cookbook:
- Artichoke and Olive Dip with Sourdough Crisps
- Soba Noodle Salad with Sriracha Dressing
- Spicy Lamb Rogan Josh
- Choucroute Garni with Potatoes
- Gingerbread Cake
And the beer stations will have the following beers to pair with the food:
- Steam Whistle
- Creemore Altbier
- 8th Sin Black Lager
- Muskoka Mad Tom IPA
- Mill Street Porter
Each ticket includes five beer tokens and five food tokens, figure in that the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse Foundation is a great cause and it’s apparent, to me at least, that $40 is a bargain.
